For most of this year, I’ve been terribly lazy about writing on this blog. The problem is, there have been lots of cool things going on that I should’ve told you guys about! So, I’m starting the Sunday Shots series here on the Summerglen blog. For the first few weeks, I’ll post pictures from events we did earlier in 2009 that didn’t make it onto the blog. After that, I’ll start posting fun pics each Sunday of current Summerglen happenings.

This Sunday, we sneak a peek at the Everyday Creativity workshop I led at Storyteller’s Books in Wake Forest this past July.

Celebrating Summerglen’s 2-Year Anniversary — With A Speech! http://www.summerglen-music.com/blog/celebrating-summerglens-2-year-anniversary-with-a-speech http://www.summerglen-music.com/blog/celebrating-summerglens-2-year-anniversary-with-a-speech#comments Wed, 01 Jul 2009 19:01:02 +0000 summerglen http://www.summerglen-music.com/blog/?p=183 Greetings! Today is the 2nd year anniversary of our wonderful business, Summerglen Music. A lot has happened in the last two years–big time musical progress, lots of marketing, a book, and tons of learning new things. To celebrate this milestone, I did something good for my business: I went to a networking group and gave a speech!

I joined Coffee and Contacts, a dynamic women’s networking group here in the Triangle, about 2 weeks ago. In my experience, networking has been a nourishing experience for my business–each contact is like a plate of good food, supercharging my business and making it healthy and robust. Since joining, I’ve already made some great contacts!

I also had a chance to turn my musical experience into a helpful presentation called “Making Your Presentations Memorable”. Today, I shared some of the techniques that help me take the stage with confidence, and showed the women in the audience how to use these skills to make their business communication more exciting and effective. It was a great experience, and I can’t think of any better way to celebrate Summerglen’s anniversary.

And now, on to year #3! :)

A Confident Speech! http://www.summerglen-music.com/blog/a-confident-speech http://www.summerglen-music.com/blog/a-confident-speech#comments Fri, 11 Jul 2008 22:40:48 +0000 summerglen http://www.summerglen-music.com/blog/?p=80 Christina speaks at the Wake County WBON July Meeting in Raleigh

The speech for the Wake County Women Business Owners Network went very well!

My presentation was designed to teach business owners the skills of performers, to help them promote their businesses more easily. In the presentation, I offered 5 tips to help build the inner confidence needed to perform well and feel comfortable in front of a group. And in preparing for today’s meeting, I used the 5 tips as well.

They work! :-) A lady actually came up to me afterwards and commented on how confident I was!

It was a pleasure speaking to this fine group of women business owners, and I look forward to seeing them again at the meeting next month! (Check it out if you’re in Raleigh!)
